John 4

“Night of Worship”

Tuesday’s Night of Worship was a moment of personal reflection on our relationship with our Heavenly Father. So often we allow the enemy to back us into a dark corner and condemn us for sin issues, for shame, for guilt or condemnation. He uses the weapon of disappointment or focusing on our imperfections to separate us from the truth of God’s word. Tuesday gave us an opportunity to be washed in the truth of Jesus Christ.

We shared the story of Abraham who carried his son up a mountain and was willing to sacrifice him for The Lord, however God had a ram to offer up as a sacrifice. In Christ moment of suffering when He was being led to the cross, there was no substitution. He was our substitution on the cross. God’s ultimate expression of love for us was laying down His son’s life. We meditated on the cost of that sacrifice and allowed the love of God to express itself in 8 meaningful worship songs.

Lee shared a verse from John 4 as an encouragement to all who were spiritual drained or exhausted. He expressed the cry of the Samaritan woman who said, “Give me this living water, that I may not thirst again, nor come here to draw upon.” This Samaritan woman was crying out for God’s truth and love to be poured out onto her. Braxton Wade then led the group in a cry to The Lord to refill us with His truth and His word.

RVA United had the honor of praying a blessing over 2 visiting pastors from Ghana and then having a time of fellowship and refreshment with the Hospitality team from First Baptist who graced us with hot apple cider and homemade goodies!
